The Donut Drifter is a playful, donut shaped fantasy vehicle from the Hot Wheels Mainline series and its related sub-lines. Designed by Charlie Angulo under the mentorship of the late Ryu Asada, it embodies Hot Wheels' signature blend of humor and creativity.

The casting made its debut in 2020 as part of the Fast Foodie segment of the Mainline assortment.

Its name cleverly plays on the phrase "doing donuts" a nod to both drifting maneuvers and its sugary, circular design.

Its first appearance featured a dark-brown body resembling a chocolate donut, accented by a pink underbody and colorful sprinkle tampos. This launch version introduced collectors to the whimsical, pastry-themed design that quickly became a fan favorite.

In 2021, the casting returned with several new variations. One featured a light-blue body with green and blue sprinkles, released in the Fast Foodie lineup (#60/250). That same year, Hot Wheels also offered a Red Edition variant (12/12), a retailer-exclusive version that gave collectors another fun twist on the design.

The 2022 release continued the colorful trend, this time with a violet body and purple icing graphics, once again part of the Fast Foodie series (#82/250). This version maintained the same casting while showcasing a fresh, vibrant look.

In 2023, the Donut Drifter earned special recognition with a Treasure Hunt edition. This version featured an orange body with a white icing swirl and included the subtle “ghost” Treasure Hunt flame logo, making it part of the Sweet Rides sub-series (5/5, #129/250, code HKK97). Highly sought after by collectors, this edition is celebrated for its Treasure Hunt status.

The 2024 version introduced yet another wave of bright and playful designs, including green/mint and blue/white icing colorways. It appeared in the Fast Foodie collection (1/5, #150/250), continuing the casting’s legacy as one of Hot Wheels’ most delightfully creative fantasy vehicles.
